Traceability & Freshness
Sangu Valley Trial Plots is our own experimental garden in the Bandarban hills, planted with local growers to test what thrives in Bangladeshi conditions. The excelsa trees surprised everyone — hardy, generous and defiantly different in the cup — and each small harvest is picked, dried and sorted by the same hands that planted them.
About this product
Most specialty coffee revolves around arabica — this 100 g micro lot asks what else deserves the spotlight. A rare excelsa grown on our experimental plots in the Bandarban hill tracts, roasted medium to frame its bold, unconventional character: dark fruit, a curl of smoke and a savoury, lingering depth unlike anything else on our shelf. Tiny harvest, honest Bangladeshi terroir, and a glimpse of where our sourcing is headed.

About this coffee
Almost everything we roast is arabica. This lot is the exception, and the argument: a rare excelsa from our own trial plots in the Bandarban hills, roasted medium so its unusual character stands square in the frame. Expect dark fruit with a curl of smoke, a tea-like body and a savoury depth that keeps pulling you back. Bold, unconventional, intriguing.

From the farm
Sangu Valley Trial Plots is our experiment in the Bandarban hill tracts, where we have been testing hardy coffee varieties alongside local growers since 2021. This excelsa harvest is tiny, but it is proof of what Bangladeshi soil can do — and we are enormously proud to pour it.
Brewing Suggestions
Brew it black and curious: a French press at 1:15 shows off the savoury body, while a pourover sharpens the dark fruit. Taste it before your usual cup, not after — subtlety this strange deserves a fresh palate.
